What’s in a name?
We get a lot of questions about our name and new logo marks. They both have an interesting story behind them.
Zero Zero Two is the score of a new match—a symbol of a fresh start and limitless possibilities. As an upstart independent facility in a market full of corporate franchises, we loved the idea of adopting a name that was truly unique to the sport and spoke to the idea that the newcomer could play well enough to beat anybody if they played a great game. So here we are, at the onset of a new match, calling out the starting score and looking to kick some corporate butt.
It was also important to us to visualize that brand name in a way that conveyed the premium qualities of the facility and culture we’re looking to build. We knew we wanted something colorful, fun, and meaningful, so we hired a really talented designer out of Vancouver BC by the name of Natahsha Priya—a former high school pickleball champion herself!
Natahsha designed the wordmark with a custom typeface and some angled “e”s that feel like a ball that’s come to rest after rolling across the court. The icon itself takes things a step further, combining Zs and 2s in a unique abstract shape that is meant to mimic the kind of footwork we’re using on the court (or supposed to be…).
At the end of the day, we love that our identity is deeply rooted in the sport. But we’re just proud of the fact that it’s lively and memorable. We hope you’re liking it, too!
